Tibetan Art – made from a kind of Tibetan Medicine powder

Posted on May 31st, 2010 by admin

Two Tibetan monks made this beautiful drawing from a kind of Tibetan Medicine….it is an image of a Buddha in the center, and there are all kinds of living beings around him, which shows every living being is equal.
it took almost one month to finish it and then the artists-monks wipe the art away, to show however colorful, however great the life is, eventually it will turn empty….
Buddha Bless you!

Is China really destroying the Tibetan culture?

Posted on May 28th, 2010 by admin

or are the Tibetan ancestors and relatives and parents does not know HOW to enculturate their own kids. Music; Language; Art; literature; Theater.

Han people was sent into Tibet to help the economy and I still don’t get why somebody would say they are destroying the Tibetan race? Or are you saying that some Tibetans marry Hans because I know a friend that is one of those mixed but in Tibet there’s very few who does that anymore.

I think China is modernizing the place. And I think most Tibetan has this ‘excuse’ so they can ask for full independence from China.–my radical thought. You don’t have to believe it though.
Please be grateful to all cultures. Yes cultures can be awkward and weird but it doesn’t mean it sucks.
Jorienta…

Do you really dislike China so much because of the rocky relationship between Japan and China?

I just don’t know; from some of your post you really sound like a Japanese nationalists.

We already now China annex it but it is trying to open up Tibet by building the railway; economy is improving; etc.

We don’t see slavery anymore. .

I agree with you that Han help Tibetan to be modernizing. I do think the culture revolution destroy the Chinese culture including Tibetan culture. Afterwards, the cultures have been recovered although not 100%. But I don’t think Tibet will be independent since they are belonged to China. It doesn’t matter what others think. Up to date, no one can claim Tibet is their country. And Chinese mentality is you can’t lose one inch of your mother land even you have to die. Therefore, encouraging people in Tibet to against Han people and Chinese government only can harm people there.( Chinese people will fight to protect the mother land.) After this Tibet incidence, my guess is that Tibetans will be labeled as violent race and no long welcome to mainland and the financial aids to Tibet will be reduced. Therefore, people, who want to free Tibet: please don’t just shout it outside the Tibet. Why don’t you get your gun to do it yourself? If you don’t have the guts to do so, why don’t you mind your own business! For people who don’t support Beijing Olympic, you don’t have to go to Beijing or go there to see how “bad” it will be, why did you try to destroy the Olympic Torch. Again, you free Tibet with your gun, not by destroying the Olympic torch!

Tibetan door curtain?

Posted on May 22nd, 2010 by admin

I’ve been to Tibetan region in nepal and I notice that they use specific kind of door curtain with designs representing tibetan culture …arts dragon etc etc…do you know, whats the website for those tibetian door curtain, where the details can be found for each specific design of the curtain…or if you know you can write it here :)

There are many, many different designs. You can find some of them, and some short explanations about the motifs, here:

http://www.windhorse.co.uk/acatalog/asd.html

http://www.tibetanspirit.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp_Q_id_E_191_A_cat_E_Door+Curtains_A_catid_E_140_A_maincat_E_Fabric+Items

http://prayerflaghouse.com/door_curtain.html

A little more about a few of the motifs: http://www.artelino.com/articles/tibetan-rugs-designs.asp

And if you want to buy for yourself, I recommend to buy it from some of the many places that give support to either Tibetan monks and nuns or Tibetan Buddhism in general:
http://www.monasteryshop.org/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=18 (there seems to be some temporary problem with this site from a superb monastery in Nepal)

Should nearly 3 million Tibetan people inside Tibet be ignored ?

Posted on May 19th, 2010 by admin

All the Hooplas in the media on the Tibetan exiles demonstrations give me a curiosity about the exact number of Tibetan population. This is what I found:

To be fair, I give benefit of doubt to both sides:
The advocate for Free Tibet is in Canada, whose figure is http://www.studentsforafreetibet.org/art…

China Tibetan site figure is http://www.china.com.cn/chinese/zhuanti/…
Then we got:
1) Tibetans outside Tibet is 150,000 ;
2) Tibetans inside Tibet is 2,736,800

So, we have only 150 thousand Tibetans outside Tibet shouting for “Independence” What about nearly 3 millions inside Tibet ? Should they be ignored ?
To: Bush Family Member:
You shall be rewarded by CIA’s sabtage war dept. But you just exposed CIA technique.
So, you shall be poisoned at your next going out.
To: Pagan Dan

You asked for it. Pentagon just admit US sent four nukes to Taiwan. Don’t blame mainland China for your own aggression when launch a nuke on you.

You should not post links to ".cn" websites when discussing Tibet. I am sure China records foreign IP addresses (your internet telephone number). China likes to hack Americans’ computers via a known IP address.

Make sure you download some free firewall software.

Difference between zen and tibetan buddhism?

Posted on May 16th, 2010 by admin

well, Im reading the tibetan book of life and death, but I don’t know almost anything about Zen… and by the way, what is the reationship between zen and the martial art "Kendo"

Tibetan Buddhism is very deeply mixed with the native religion of the region, and is very unique within the schools of Buddhism. Zen is a Chinese/Japanese (ch’an/zen) form of Buddhism that focuses on meditation to achieve enlightenment in a flash. Zen just means "to sit".
